Weekend Here I Come!

I'm looking forward to this weekend and visiting our friends' 2 month old baby Grace!  I made her a stripey little pair of socks before she was born and I might need to whip up something else to match... or maybe after this weekend!

As for patterns, there are always so many patterns, so little time!  I am having so much fun with my Februrary sock of the month club socks (see Feb 23rd).  I went to the designer's website and fell in love with the Sonata Gloves!

I also can not wait for the debut of Mag-knits.  I'm working on a project right now that I'm thinking about submitting for the next issue.  This secrecy thing is no fun though, I want to show it off!

Finally Princess Socks

For over two months now I've been about an inch away from binding off the second princess sock... why haven't I done it? Who knows! Finally last week I picked it up and said "This is silly," and I finished it!

I was so excited to finally be able to wear these socks (I still haven't worn my pink opal socks yet because I want to wash and try to shrink them a little first). I put on my Princess socks, went to get dressed, and couldn't figure out what to wear... finally I ended up wearing black and white and changing my socks, so yes... this means that I STILL have never worn a pair of socks that I've made. I hope that the other socks that I've made are being worn more often... Miranda, Mom, babies, are you wearing my socks?

Here is a picture of them in all of their sparkling glory. Have a Super Tuesday (or is that next week?)

I've Been Knitting!

I got my Febrary sock of the month club kit from Joslyn's Fiber Farm on Friday and got right to it.  It is an incredible pattern.  Go check it out.

All of the kits come with Joslyn's wonderful yarn and this month was a beautiful mix of greens and browns (it's much more green than it looks on my monitor).  I chose to use the Koigu that I got from the yarn sale at the begining of this month instead.  I've already made a bit of progress on these socks.  They have such a different construction than other socks I've seen or done.  Each diamond is made separately, which provides very good stopping points!

Isn't the Koigu working out beautifully?

I also promised a picture of Wetherby's sleeve.  It's all done and off the needles now and the front is cast on for but here is a picture of the sleeve from about a week ago.

Happy Knitting!

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your comments yesterday! I'm sure that I'll sneak in some wedding updates here and there every once in a while. To answer some questions:

Kerrie: I will wrestle with the tiara kit that you sent me. Thanks! I've already pulled it out to look at it again.

Jody: I'm not planning on knitting anything for the wedding yet... I am planning on making something special for my bridesmaids but it won't be knit.

Sandy: Thanks for keeping my news quiet. I know it's not easy. Feel free to get on the bull horn now though!

Thanks to everyone else for your comments!

Also, thanks to Ann for my wonderful Valentine's Gift as organized through Em. She sent me a super felted cover for a potted plant. It's beautiful with a great fringe around the top. I'll get a picture up next week! Anyone that is interested in doing a knitters swap should check out Sandy's blog for details on one that she is planning. Gosh it's fun to get presents in the mail! Thanks again Ann!

I Love Michael

Sorry that I've been so absent the last two weeks but things have been busy around here because of this.

Things have been busy starting to plan a July wedding!  Yeah!

I have been knitting but still can't put pictures up... grr.  Mike's Wetherby sweater is half done and I will have enough yarn!  The first sleeve just flew off of the needles!  I almost finished my beaded princess socks this morning... only a few more rows of toe decreases to go before I can wear them!

I also started a little sweater for the same little guy that got the finger puppets.  I'm doing it in the Debbie Bliss Merino DK that I got at the sale and it's nice yarn... then I washed my swatch and realized that it's VERY nice yarn.  It softens so much when washed.  Good for the little guy's skin.  Nothing scratchy for him.

Hopefully back tomorrow with some pics and more updates.  Have a great day!

My Gurls Can Purl!

I had my second knitting class at the elementary school yesterday and the girls are just incredible!  Some had come in with knitting experience and others none.  Last week was a bit hectic, but now that I know where everyone stands I broke them into two groups.  Last week half learned how to knit and purl, the others only to knit, this week they are all purling (beautifully) and they learned to bind off their practice swatches and some learned to cast on for their scarves!  It's amazing waching little girls cast on with little hesitation and do so beautifully.  They make me so proud!  We are having so much fun.  No class next Tuesday because of February break, but I can't wait to see them again the week after!

Sleeves Can Be Fun!

I have finished the back of Wetherby and now I'm onto sleeve number 1! As you may or may not know, this yarn that I'm using was found in my grandmother's house and given to me by my father. It meant a lot to me that I got to use it for a nice project, and a sweater for Mike seemed like a great way to go. The problem is, although it looked like enough yarn to me, there was no indication of yardage on the skeins and so it was very tough to determine how much I had. I decided to knit the front and the back and see how much I had left and decide from there if it would be a sweater or a vest!

The back ended up much bigger than was necessary, (which is fine because it has a large seed stitch border on each side which I will seam into to reduce the size), so I can make the back smaller which will obviously save some yarn! The back took me ~2.5 skeins, so the front should take a bit less... that brings me up to five used skeins... I have seven. This means that if one skein can do one sleeve we are free and clear... I wish that I could upload the picture that I took of the sleeve because it is just flying by. I've been working on it for two days and it's already more than half done, and the best part, I've used less than half of the skein. I think we are free and clear and boy am I enjoying this sleeve.

**Please, someone remind me of this post when I'm in "sleeve hell" with sleeve number two!**

Also, a Men-along update, many of you have finished your projects. Sonja sent me a picture to post of her finished sweater which she also posted on her blog (Feb 9th post).  Go check it out. "Fantastic Lisa" is going head for head with me on her A Yorkshire Fable sweater "Kirby" and is working on sleeve number one as well. Leave comments when you finish and I'll figure out a good color to change your name to to indicate that your men are warm! Happy Knitting!

Technical Difficulties

We are experiencing technical difficulties here at "Jofrog is Knitfrog" therefore no pictures until we can get things up and running again.  This, however, does not mean that I can't tell you about more wonderful yarn that I got at the sale and what I'm going to do with it.

I think that I need to buy the full library of Rowan "insert yarn here" collection books.  I just love them so much!  I bought the Summer Tweed Collection last week and the yarn to make Chamomile.  The yarn to make Lavender is going to be ordered some time soon (because I don't have enough yarn at home already... does anyone remember the green cork yarn I bought to do Bless for me... yup, still sitting in the bag in the bin at home... now it has the summer tweed to keep it company.

Check out the color card...  I'm going to do Chamomile in color #507 and I'll order #534 for Lavender.

Ooh, that's almost as good as me taking the pictures myself!

In knitting news, I am knitting, but very slowly.  The back of Wetherby is ALMOST done and then on to the front... and hoping that I have enough for sleeves or else it will end up being a vest... we'll see.  I thought about doing one sleeve first but if I don't have enough I don't want to waste that time making it...

Also, you might notice that Purple Ox is done!  I think that the sleeves are actually longer than I thought so it just needs to be washed and blocked and then the sleeves will be reassessed.   Pictures after the technical difficulties are fixed, but I am very satisfied with my biggest Jofrog Original project to date!  Woo hoo!  I can't wait to wear it.

Have a great weekend, no posts from me tomorrow...  See you Monday.

I Had So Much Fun!

I had so much fun shopping at the sale on Sunday, but yesterday I was thinking of all of the things that I should have gotten in addition to the things that I did get!  Oh well, another day, another sale, all will be bought!

Here it is folks!

And a bit closer...

Lots of Debbie Bliss DK for a toddler sweater that is in the designing phases...

Then some sock yarn... of course.  Finally able to buy the Koigu that I've had my eyes on!

And then the project that I've started on already...  a fancy scarf for Mike's mom,

There was one more projects worth of yarn that I bought but I'll save that for tomorrow... I'm sure that you can't wait!

Mail Time!

Here's the mail, it never fails. It makes me want to wag my tail!

I've been looking all over for the Bouton d'Or Layette #11, and thanks to Kerstin's adept Googling skills and perserverance I finally found a place to purchace it within the US and for a reasonable price... better even than that, I got it in the mail on Saturday and spent all night thumbing through it! There are some wonderfully cute patterns in it!

I bought it from Jimmy Beans Wool and I would definitely buy from them again. They don't have a huge selection, but it is obvious that they are a small company trying to make it. The best part about their site is that whenever they don't have a picture of something they substitute it with a picture of one of their two beautiful mixed breed dogs! Gotta love that! An extra added bonus was that they sent candy along and wrote "Thanks" on the back of my reciept! Things like that really matter to me!

Stay tuned tomorrow to see me shake my booty, or show you my booty from the sale yesterday! You choose!
