Jofrog is Knitfrog!

Who knew that I could crochet? Certainly not me. I knew that the skills were there, but actually putting them together gracefully... who knew? I started my wedding sandals on Monday night. Yesterday I finished the first one. I took this picture when I thought that I was quitting for the night. An hour and a half later I'd finished the second sole, slipstitched them together, made the top of the sandal and sewn it on along with the back strap! They seem a little bit wide... I'm not so sure about them yet. I think that I have to re-do the back strap to make them a bit tighter. Once I add a pretty little flower on the front I hope that they will be just perfect. The pattern is written for size 6.5 foot... I'm an 8.5 so I had to do some adjustments. I figured out most of her logic and could make most adjustments easilly. A word of warning though, although Melissa says that she had someone test crochet them, there are A LOT of typos and omissions. That said, if you want the pattern you can find it here. You might have noticed that "Cian's Sweater" is marked as "Done" on the sidebar... I haven't talked about this one at all because I was waiting to see what was to come of it, but now I know! It has been accepted into the newest player in the online knitting magazines market, Chiagu. Chiagu is expecting to have their first issue out this summer so stay tuned. I'll be sure to announce it when it happens.Yarn + Time = Sandals

Mike's cousin Maureen's baby shower is this weekend and the baby sweater is all ready for her. Look at how cute and sweet it is! Check out thelittle ruffle I added to the cuffs thanks to Nicky Epstein's new book Knitting on the Edge. Look at the buttons! Awe, little stars, just perfect. We can't wait for this little baby Olivia to come into the world. Cousin Johanna will do her best to keep the baby stylish!Olivia, We're Ready For You!

I've been working like crazy on different projects around here trying to get them done! The baby cardigan is done and waiting for the buttons to be sewn on (which entails moving wedding stuff to be able to get to the yarn to move that to be able to get to the sewing stuff!). Now it's back to the serape jacket from Interweave knits. Here it is so far, two sleeves and a back. I cast on for the two fronts yesterday at Knitsmiths and they should go quickly now. I'm going to do them the same way that I did the sleeves. Two at a time but doing two rows of green on one and then two rows of green on the other, three rows of pink on one, three rows of pink on the other... you get the picture. This way I don't have to have two balls of each color going at the same time but when I pull out each color I get to use it for twice as long. I wasn't sure that it wouldn't drive me crazy but I've decided that it was definitely the way to go! I'm hoping to be on a computer again on Wednesday to update... lets try to not go so long (a full week) without talking again... oh, I guess that's my responsibility... well, see you here Wednesday! How do you Serape?

I'm sure that this will not come as a surprise to most of you, but baby sweaters sure do knit up quickly! It's amazing. I started a little top down cardigan 12:30AM Friday and this is where I was by yesterday! Amazing! I'm using Ann Norling pattern #32 which gives top down options for a pullover or cardigan with a crew neck or v-neck in sizes 1-12 with five different gauges of yarn! I love patterns like this. In other baby news, I finally got a picture of the baby wearing the crocheted hat that I made for him. See for yourself how he liked it.What I did this Weekend

Melisa, over at Gotta Make... Something, has finally posted the crocheted thong sandles pattern! Yeah. Unfortunately I only bought one skein of the kitchen cotton in preparation, fortunately I'm on my way to the town with the AC Moore tonight and can pick up more... gosh, I never thought that I would go back to getting yarn in a large craft store again! I guess you just never know and there is a good application for all yarn. No yarn is bad yarn! Isn't it curious that the same day that Melisa posted her pattern Kerrie sent out the June newsletter for Magknits with a flip flop pattern in it! Haven't seen it yet? Check here. In other wedding news, I've been wanting to post this poem that the invitees to my bridal shower wrote. They sent around a piece of paper and wrote one line of poem, folded the paper over the previous line and passed it on. Each person was only allowed to read the line right before theirs. I think it came out awesome! What do you think? Once upon a time there was a fairy princess Johanna.Wedding News and Wedding Shoes
Ode to Johanna
Always wearing a shiny diamond tiara.
Always with a smile on your face.
Always with a great sense of grace.
You'll look so great in white and lace
The future is so bright for Johanna and Mike
Always remember to care a bout each other
Who knows, you may become a mother.
The frog jumped into the mud,
Johanna followed after him.
At first things appeared rather dim
but then a brilliant ray of sunshine showed through
His smile was what was first notice,
Her eyes, how they gleamed with delight,
He'd do well to bring the frogs home to her,
Her heart flies as high as a kite.
Hopefully the kite never finds any thunderstorms,
And her heart, the kite, has blue skies forever more.
So is the tale of Johanna in love
Freedom, flight, soaring together.
Through life's joys, mysteries, sorrows, adventures
You'll walk hand in hand as partners and friends.
Learning to do the latest dance trends.

My mom is coming up this weekend to deliver THIS! It's a wedding shower gift from her cousin Nancy and my cousins Shayna, Wendy, and Jodi! Thanks everyone! I'm sure that there will be a lot of knitting going on. My mom is knitting a sweater with Berroco's Uxbridge Tweed (that she got at Webs big tent sale along with lots of other goodies... I'm so jealous) and I'll be working on that Serape Jacket. Happy Knitting to you and yours!A Knitting Weekend With Mom
June 2 2004
In addition to all of the items listed over on my sidebar that I am knitting/have been knitting/should be knitting... I've also been knitting the Serape Jacket from the newest Interweave Knits! It is a 97 row striping repeat! 97 ROWS! I'm almost done with the back, then onto two sleeves at once. Thankfully I was smart enough to weave in the ends as I go. All I have to do is snip the extra yarn and seam. I'm happy to say that I'm enjoying this much more than I thought I would. This Missions Falls 1824 Cotton is delightful and the striping keeps me interested. There is no way to get bored with this cardi! This is #1 on my knitting priorities. Like Kerrie does on a frequent basis, I felt that I needed to prioritize my projects, though I'm not putting any prospective due dates on any of them I am setting relative weights on them and a plan of attack for finishing them. #1 Serape Jacket #1b Cian's Sweater #2 A fruit cap for my cousin's baby due in August (the shower is end of this month) #2b A top down ragalan cardigan for the same baby (hopefully for the shower as well... how long can a baby cardi take?) #3 Denise's birthday socks (Hey, they are already late, what's the rush? Just kidding, they are being knit when I have little stints of time not long enough for the other projects.) #4 My two summer tops (Maybe they will be done in time for summer... if summer ever gets here.) #5 Mike's Wetherby Sweater (This will be done before fall.) How did I get so many projects going at once? Who knows... lets not even mention the THREE pairs of socks that I've got going on for me! Kimberly, I'm up for a finishing fiesta with you!As if There Wasn't Already Enough on My Plate...
