USPS Pulls Through

My KSKS partner, Cookie, finally recieved her package! I didn't take any pictures before I sent it off, but she seems to have done a good job.

It's so stressful to put together a perfect kit for someone you don't know, but it seems like it was appreciated! Happy Knitting Cookie!

I need a Brown Cardigan

I'm checking things off of my WIPs list. I'm making holiday presents and wedding presents and birthday presents left and right. Last night, I finally decided was the night to start on my Moonlight Cardigan, and I brought it over to Dani's to decide what size to make, (I plan to wear this for the fall and winter and beyond. I'm expanding now, but won't be forever and only my front is large, my back is still small me! It makes choosing a size much harder!)

I thought I was all set. I didn't stay long enough at Dani's to cast on, but that was the plan... until I got dressed this morning. Pants that fit? Check. Shirt that covers maternity panel? Check. Cardigan to go over shirt (that happens to be sleeveless)? See for yourself.

The spring green cardigan works, but really, I need a brown one. I've got all sorts of easy, but stylish, ideas. I have some yarn in a nice deep brown (that happens to be superwash which will be nice this winter), and now the dilemma. Moonlight or Brown simple cardi? Both I'll wear a ton. Moonlight will knit up faster. Moonlight has been cast aside before. The pro column for Moonlight is definitely longer, but I'm leaning towards casting on for a simple top down brown sweater. Mindless enough to substitute for sock knitting. Oh, the worries that I face in my tough life! ;-)

Care to weigh in?

Knew Knit on the Kblock

I'm working to finish some baby things, thinking about what's next for me, and starting on holiday presents, but despite that, I felt the need to cast on for one more thing!

Really though, this one will be gifted far before any of those others, so I'd better get a move on!

This will be a linen table runner for the friends that just recieved the napkin rings. The wedding is in the beginning of October, I've had the yarn for ages, and felt like now was the time to start... it's a good thing too, because there is only so much lace chart reading I can take these days!

I'm using FT AC-48x "Faina's Scarf" pattern. I hope it comes out as great as I have in my mind... otherwise we will have an okay table runner and we'll be running out last minute to buy them something from their registry!

I'm on row 76 of 423 right now. I'd better get off the computer and get knittin'!

August Socks, August Rocks!

Here are my first entries for SOTM2! The wonderful Chrissy has extended the Sock of The Month Knitalong to go for another six months, and despite flaking on July (you may remember lots of booties, but no socks), I'm in for the long haul.

Evidence: August Socks!

Perfect for enjoying with a glass of milk and a cookie!

For those of you who care:

There would actually be two finished pairs for August in there, but one of the socks from the other pair seems to have gone missing, so you will just have to wait to see them.

Rhienbeck and Hormones

I've been pretty stable throughout this pregnancy so far. Very few crying episodes, for the most part in control of my emotions. That said, when I lose control, I lose it!

Something early Tuesday morning got me thinking about Rhienbeck this year and I was overwhelmed by saddness at the fact that it wasn't here already! I kept cool until I went to wake up Mike and talk to him about it, and that's when I found myself, standing in the middle of my bed room, crying because it wasn't the end of October! Hormones, I think so!

Luckilly, that afternoon I got an email from Melanie asking about my Rhienbeck plans. Then the next day, I got another email asking the same. Phew, I'm not the only nut that is wishing it was late October.

So, it seems like we are in the who is going, where are we staying planning stages, but I'm past that and on to the "what will I wear" stage. Enter, what I plan to be my favorite sweater this fall and winter, Rowan "Moonlight".

Will I finish this by Rhienbeck? Who knows? Will I start it before then? Probably. Will it be way too hot to wear it this year, like it was last year? We will have to see. It's a week later this year, and NY falls can definitely be unpredictable. Despite that, I really want to make this sweater, and what a better place to debut it.

So... will you be there?

First The Rings, Then The Wedding

I was invited to a wedding shower last weekend for a good friend's fiance. I've been planning, for ages, what I was going to do for them for their wedding gift, but hadn't realized that I'd be invited to the shower as well.

I scooped up my favorite bead shopping buddy, and off to the bead store we went! A few days, and very little knitting time later, I had these.

Knit wire napkin rings!

I love knitting with wire! It's so much fun, it's so satisfying, and it's so fast! It's not as recognizable as knitting with yarn, so people are more impressed that it's hand-made, and did I mention that it's fast?

Knitting At Last!

So, I've actually been knitting a bit around here, but I haven't been able to blog about it. My mom's birthday was Thursday and I knit her a sweater for it. (Just in time for a little cool snap around here.) I didn't take progress pics or blog about it, because she reads the blog... the problem is, I also forgot to take a finished picture or a modeling picture! She modeled it at Knitsmiths, but no pictures were taken there either! You'll have to wait until I see her next month for a picture of that one, but believe me, (and Knitsmiths feel free to chime in), it came out really nice!

Okay, so that's not my only knitting news. I had a long train ride two weekends ago and during the ride I designed, cast on, and knit a good portion of this little sweater. It's going to be for Tadpole of course. No more details at this point, but depending on how it comes out you may see more of it!

Thea has already mentioned that she wants to make one for herself! Pattern may follow. I'm really loving this little sweater, and it will be perfect for summer air conditioning into the fall and possibly for next spring too! Ahhh versitility, I'm starting to understand why people like to knit cotton baby sweaters. Hey, this baby has plenty of wool ones already, it's time for some cotton too!

The Best Kitter EVER!

Kim sent me the best package last week for the Knitters Sock Kit Swap (KSKS)! Thanks Kim!

Inside is even better than the box! The first thing I found was my fabulous hand felted bag. It even has a frog on the front of it! Inside were lots of little parcels and the whole thing smelled so nice!

There is maple candy, (my favorite), and a hat for the baby, and a new pattern, and soap,

and of course beautiful sock yarn!

Isn't this Koigu amazing! Kim, you got my colors perfectly. I love them. I can't wait to make socks for me and then use the leftovers to make more booties for Tadpole!

Thank you so much!

Really, I'm Trying

I have two posts all written up, just waiting for pictures. One of these days I'll actually take the time to crop and resize and upload and code pictures into those posts, but for now... I've been knitting, I am knitting, I'll continue knitting.

Just wanted you all to know I'm here and doing fine (and getting bigger by the day).

The Return of The Peapod Sweater

I finally tied up some loose ends around here (lots of finishing work for other people got top priority over a sweater for a baby that isn't yet breathing oxygen from the air). Now I'm free to finish some sweaters that were started for Tadpole ages ago. Once I finish the Peapod Sweater it's on to something girly I think! Hey, if we know she's a girl, why not?

Maybe Anouk.

Maybe Miss Dashwood.

Probably Rose of Sharon. (Possibly even two of these, one for the brand new baby girl across the street... don't you think she needs one for this summer?)

Or, it's possible that a stuffed animal might be the next thing cast on. One thing I can say, is the next thing cast on for will probably be for Tadpole and not for me!
