What I Made For Halloween

Yeah, so this is a knitting blog, but here are two non-knitting things I made for Halloween.

Mom, I need 150 cupcakes for a Halloween party... tomorrow!

Naomi reminds you to always stop to smell the flowers.

Better pictures of Kaya in costume are over at her blog.

Another Finished Sweater For Kaya

Will I ever finish another sweater for me? Probably not for a while, when things for Kaya go so quickly!

I finished knitting this little Sirdar sweater weeks ago, but finally finished the last seam yesterday... (but as you can see from the pictures, I didn't weave in the tail from that last seam yet!).

I also haven't bought or sewn on buttons yet, but it looks perfectly fine without, and she'll possibly be wearing this on Sunday at Rhinebeck just this way!

The Specs:

I loved this pattern. I loved this yarn. I love the collar (which you can't see in the pics). Maybe I'll find some buttons I love some day and sew them on it!

Starting Them Off Early

Buddy crawled over to the magazine basket the other day and chose two Knitpicks catalogs to peruse. He even shared one with Kaya.

What should we buy?

Walking on Sunshine

Knitting-wise I've been trying to get Kaya ready for winter with a new wardrobe of soakers... or more accurately, "longies". For those of you not involved in the cloth diapering world, longies are soakers that have pant legs so they can be worn as a cover to a cloth diaper in the cold weather. Kaya has been in soakers since the spring and they breathe so much better than the commercially available diaper covers which are made of PUL.

I got some white wooly wool at the last Knitsmiths' Swap and asked the wonderful Dani to dye it up for me to be a bit more interesting. Dani has a way with color, don't you think?

This is one of the three that she's dyed for me so far. One more is on the way! It's going to be an absolutely beautiful pair of pants when it's all knit up.

In other Sunshine Yarns news, there is a new Twist Sock Yarn color named after this blog! What fun!

I've already bought mine!

Absence Explained

There has been a little bit of soaker knitting over here, but not much else. My Divine cardigan is not going to be ready for Rhinebeck... that's okay. I didn't really expect it to be, but if I find myself in a fit of knitting, who knows! There's still two weeks to go!

What I have been spending every spare minute on is shoes. I've been making shoes to put up at Kaya's Kloset and also for an Autism Benefit that was last night and another craft fair coming up in November.

My friend's son is autistic and she is raising money for Autism Speaks and Boston's Walk Now for Autism next Sunday. She had a gift fair/ holiday extravaganza at her home last night with five mompreneurs selling their wares. It was a really nice night and great for Kaya's Kloset and Autism Speaks.

If you look in the front row there are some brand new holiday shoes! I'll be making them as special orders only, so keep an eye out in the etsy shop!.

Pictures of Kaya and Buddy to come later this week, and then maybe some knitting too! I'm knitting a soaker out of some custom dyed Sunshine Yarns yarn now that is just beautiful. Dani really has a way with a dye pot!
