Tempting Pretty Colors

Every time my blog opens I see those pretty pinwheel colors... the yarn, it still looks exactly like that! I'd love to cast on, but I had no needles to do so!

Finally, today I was able to take a trip out to visit a new yarn store I'd heard about in Dedham, MA. Apparently Newbury Yarns has opened a second store. It says nothing about it on their site. I couldn't find anything else online about it, but I saw a comment months ago (March to be exact) on Knitigator Kathy's blog saying that there was a new yarn store in Dedham and I followed up on it.

Great, so I got directions, drove out there... little sign on the door said "Sorry we'll be closed Tuesday Sept 4th. We'll be open on Wednesday as usual, sorry for the inconvenience." Arg... I finally get to this obscure store totally not in my neighborhood and this is what happens. Funny thing is, last November I made my way to another obscure store called Edwina's Knitch and same deal... sorry, closed today, should have been open but heard you were coming and decided to close instead. Edwina's Knitch is much more out of my neighborhood and that was probably the only time I'll end up there. le sigh.

There is a good ending to this story. I'm totally not a needle snob. In fact, I really like the Susan Bates needles. Off to JoAnn's I went with my 40% off coupon and out I walked with a $3 pair of US8s. I can cast on tonight!

The other good news is that, because I didn't have needles to start the Pinwheel sweater, I knit the first sleeve of Kaya's other new sweater... the one out of Soft Sea Wool. I started the second sleeve yesterday too, but opted for an early bed time rather than a late knitting night. If I knit my Pinwheel as fast as Alison did we may be in for two FOs in the near future!
